The average house price in Basildon and Southend could hit a whopping £2million by 2047, according to property experts.

A team at Coulters Property have analysed house price data to determine which towns and cities in the UK will see the biggest increase in house prices.

They used data from the past 26 years to see what the housing market could look like in 26 years time.

The research found the average house in the UK could cost 387% more in the future.

Both Southend and Basildon were named in the top 10 areas in the UK which could see the biggest house price increase before 2050.

The average home in Southend could cost £2,087,729 by 2047 – a huge 575.4% increase from the current figure of £309,000.

Basildon meanwhile could see the current average of £334,000 rise to £2,181,497 by 2047 – an increase of 552.1% increase.

Southend came fifth on the list of places which could see the biggest rise, with Basildon in eighth place.

Brentwood was also named in the top 10 in ninth place.

Coulter Property said its figures are estimates based on calculations, and assuming that house prices grow at a constant rate, consistent with the rate since 1995.
