A DRIVING theory test centre in Basildon will close from next month, it has been revealed.

The centre, inside Southgate House on Town Square in the town centre, will no longer be open from September 3.

The DVSA has insisted "practical test centre locations are not affected by the changes we are making to our theory test centre network."

A theory test centre in Harlow will also close on the same date.

The theory test centre in Southend, on Tylers Avenue, will re-locate to Tylers House, from Dencora Court.

A spoksman from the DVSA, said: "The DVSA is changing the way the theory test is provided in England, Scotland and Wales.

"From September 6, the number of theory test centres in Great Britain will increase from 180 to 202 and many theory test centres will move location.

"From September 6 the theory test will look slightly different on screen but the structure and content of the test itself will not change."
