A KNIFEMAN has been handed an indefinite hospital order after stabbing a man him near a train station.
Allan Lindsay, 56, of Marine Parade, Southend was sentenced at Basildon Crown Court yesterday after the incident at the junction of Queensway and Victoria Avenue in Southend in May.
The court heard how Lindsay suffers with a number of mental health conditions including paranoia, delusions psychosis.
A MAN found with £5,000 cash in his home was part of a drugs line supplying heroin and crack cocaine, a court heard.
Michael Miller, 22, of Westborough Road, Westcliff is standing trial accused of supplying drugs across Southend and Westcliff last summer.
The jury at Basildon Crown Court was told yesterday how Miller was found with the cash before his mobile and his car were linked to drug dealing.
The trial continues.
A JURY has found two brothers not guilty of abusing a taxi driver and smashing up his vehicle.
Callum Murphy, 25, along with his brother Craig, 31, both of Selbourne Road, Hockley, stood trial at Basildon Crown Court after allegedly committing affray by yelling abuse at a taxi driver, threatening him with a hammer and then smashing up his taxi in a row over a fare being paid upfront.
But the jury found them not guilty and the pair were acquitted.
The jury had previously heard from Murphy that he said he only had £10 on him at the time, and that he had asked the driver to drop them at a cash point.
A MAN who sexually touched a girl under the age of 16 has been jailed for eight months and placed on the sex offenders list for a decade.
Thomas Gale, 35, from Carisbrooke Road, Westcliff, touched the inside of the girl’s leg near her private region.
During the hearing at Basildon Crown Court yesterday, the court heard the girl was left extremely anxious after the incident and has struggled to leave the house since.
THE heartbroken partner of a man who died after being hit outside a bar said he “didn’t want any trouble” and she “thinks about his death every day”, as she gave evidence.
The girlfriend of Matthew Bion took to the stand yesterday at Basildon Crown Court as part of the trial into his death.
The father-of-two died of a fatal brain injury on August 27, 2019, following the incident outside Reids bar, in Billericay on August 18.
Dennie Griffiths, 28, of Hermitage Drive, Laindon, is standing trial accused of manslaughter.
Speaking to the jury, Mr Bion’s girlfriend fought back tears to give evidence as she described the punch as “forceful” and insisted Mr Bion “didn’t want any trouble” on the night.
She said: “I think about it everyday. He was punched with an upwards motion and it was very forceful.
Jade Chambers, of Hermitage Drive, Laindon, is also standing trial in relation to the death. She is alleged to have assisted Griffiths by telling him to hide over text messages in the aftermath of the incident.
Griffiths claims he acted in self-defence. The trial continues.
