A MAN who was caught driving a ‘dangerous’ vehicle in Benfleet has been fined and had his car seized.

Bradley Martin, 29, was also found to have no third part insurance cover for driving the Honda Accord.

He was stopped in Armstrong Road by officer who found a number of faults with his car, including an insecure bonnet and boot, defective lights, no screen wash, no rear bumper and sharp object protruding from the rear of the vehicle.

The vehicle was seized by officers and the driver was reported for no insurance, driving a vehicle without front and rear registration plates, and using a motor vehicle in a dangerous condition.

Martin, of Waverley Road, Benfleet, appeared at Southend Magistrates Court last week where he was handed a £500 fine and six points on his driver’s licence.

He was also ordered to pay costs of £110 and a victim surcharge of £34.

Speaking after sentencing, investigating officer PC Sheridan said: “Driving a vehicle in that condition had the potential to cause danger and serious injury to other road users and pedestrians.

“The driver failed to realise the seriousness of the offences committed and the potential repercussions to others because of not maintaining their vehicle properly.”
