A Southend MP has been dropped as Government minister for Africa in the latest reshuffle.
James Duddridge Tory MP for Southend and Rochford has been removed from the post.
The south Essex MP has spend 9 years in the role. It comes as a number of other ministers were also ditched from the Government including the now sacked education secretary Gavin Williamson.
Speaking on Twitter Mr Duddridge said: "It has been a privilege to serve as Minister for Africa under Cameron and Boris. I have spent 9 years as a whip or Minister but return to the backbenches. I look forward to continuing to work to grow African economies and serving the people of Southend and Rochford."
As part of the changes Damian Hinds has remained as minister of state at the Home Office.
A number of dignitaries thanked Mr Duddridge for his work and efforts. Alastair McPhail, UK Ambassador to Ethiopia said: "Thank you very much for being such a supportive Minister. We will miss you. Good luck in your next adventures."
Very sorry to see this, James, I was looking forward to working with you. Best wishes
