A SECONDARY school has concluded its investigation into reports of inappropriate language used by a teacher earlier this week.
Bosses at Gable Hall in Stanford-le-Hope carried out a formal investigation into comments made, which are alleged to have called students “retards” and “cowards”, according to a social media post.
The post went viral on Tuesday afternoon.
Alleged comments were made during an assembly to year 11 students, to discuss the ethos at the school.
In a statement Headteacher Mr Ceri Evans called the claimed comments derogatory and said: "As a school we do not tolerate or accept such behaviour."
The teacher was suspended while bosses carried out the investigation.
Some parents had campaigned against the suspension, saying year 11 children are “amazing, but push buttons.”
The investigation has now concluded and the member of staff will go back to teaching tomorrow.
Mr Evans said: “The investigation has now concluded, and following the school’s disciplinary process, the teacher’s suspension has been reviewed and lifted.
"The member of staff resumes his teaching responsibilities as of Monday, September 20.
"As the evidence showed, this was an isolated event.
"Lessons have been acknowledged and learnt.
"We recognise the unacceptable choice of words used and apologise again for any upset caused.
"We would like to thank parents, students and colleagues for their support, their messages and letters."
