AN INDIAN restaurant has been slapped with a fine for dumping rubbish in a public car park.

Regency Spice in Back Lane, Rochford, was issued a £400 fine by Rochford District Council after council officers were alerted to restaurant waste dumped in nearby Back Lane car park.

Images show piles of cardboard, beer bottles, cans and tins of food left by the kerb of the car park.

The fine was reduced to £200 as the four star Google review rated restaurant coughed up the cash within 10 days of the fine being issued.

Cllr Dave Sperring, p holder for the environment, said: “We are very proactive in our work to catch fly-tippers and are working closely with our partners to ensure that we keep our district as clean and tidy as possible.

“Fly-tipping is a serious criminal offence and we are committed to tackling this issue head on.
