TWO new takeaways offering tasty chicken dishes are coming to Southend.

Elite Peri Peri and Dallas Chicken have both been given planning permission to set up restaurants in the borough and help broaden the range of fast food on offer.

Elite Peri Peri will be based at 153 Rayleigh Road, Eastwood, inside the old Fantasy Flowers shop.

Planning permission to convert the ground floor into a restaurant has been granted by Southend Council and will see a new seating area added inside.

The upper floors, which are currently used as flats, are not affected by the plans.

Elite Peri Peri has other sites across the country including in London.

Bosses said their new restaurant would bring an economic boost to the area while attracting new people.

A new extraction system will be installed as part of the plans to prevent odours from the restaurant affecting nearby properties.

Dozens of objections were raised against the scheme and centred on concerns over parking, odour and the impact it would have on the area.

But Southend Council’s planning officers dismissed those fears, and have granted conditional approval of the plans.

Dallas Chicken will be moving into a former betting shop at 166 Hamlet Court in Westcliff.

The conversion will see a small seating area added for customers, while an extraction flue will be installed at the rear.

Three objections were made against the application, with concerns focusing on the impact on neighbouring buildings, additional noise and waste coming from the site, as well as the appearance of the extracting equipment.

But planning officers said the objections did not provide reasonable grounds to refuse the proposals, and insisted they had no concerns over the impact the takeaway would have on parking in the area.

No changes will be made to the front of building, aside from the Dallas Chicken branding being added.

The takeaway will be open from 10am until 3am seven days a week.

Dallas Chicken serves a range of food, including chicken nuggets and wings, burgers, fries and sweet treats such as cheesecake and chocolate fudge cake.
