Long queues are building on the A127 this morning following a partial road closure.
The wetsbound carriageway has reportedly been shut at Rayleigh Weir, with First Essex warning of delays to its services as one of its drivers is stuck in traffic.
AA's traffic map shows cars are queuing several miles back to the Tesco roundabout in Southend.
It says congestion in the area is heavy and a crash was reported in the area earlier this morning.
First Essex tweeted: "The 9:15 route to Lakeside arriving at 10:10 will not run as the driver is stuck on his previous service that ends in Southend, The A127 has been closed at Rayleigh weir and the driver is having to divert his return to Basildon."
