The return of Southend's fireworks have been cancelled due to a weather warning.
The event tonight has been cancelled after strong winds were forecastby the Met Office.
A spokesman for Southend Business Improvement District, which funds the displays, said: "'We are sad to announce that the first of Southend's iconic firework displays, set to take place on Saturday October 2, has been cancelled due to forecasted 40-50mph winds.

"This weather would be hazardous and, as always, the public's safety is our top priority; these conditions would be unsafe for operators to work in, whilst those attending would be at risk.
"Our firework displays are beloved events and whilst we are disappointed, we look forward to hosting our upcoming displays in safer weather conditions. Our sincerest apologies to those who have been inconvenienced by this, we hope to welcome lots of excited visitors over coming weeks."
