NINE roads in Southend will be closed for periods throughout October for resurfacing.

Another three pavements will also be resurfaced as part of an ongoing £10m project aimed at improving roads and paths in the town.

Southend Council’s contractor Marlborough is in charge of the works and will need to close parts of roads as a result.

Here are the roads being resurfaced and when they will be closed this month:

  • Blenheim Chase – overnight work being carried out on October 4 and 5 from School Way to Elmsleigh Drive
  • Southchurch Road – overnight work being carried out on October 7 from the junction at Lifstan Way to Chinchilla Road
  • Western Approaches – daytime work being carried out on October 11 and 12 from Byfield to Morrisons
  • Eagle Way – daytime work on October 13 from Kingfisher Close to Constable Way
  • Priory Crescent – overnight work between October 14 and 15 from number 236 to Cuckoo corner roundabout
  • Kings Road (part 1) – daytime work between October 18 and 20 from Leigh Road to Chalkwell Avenue
  • Kings Road (part 2) – daytime work on October 21 from Crownstone Road to Ailsa Road
  • Woodgrange Drive – daytime work between October 22 and 25 from Honiton Road to traffic island past Arnold Avenue
  • Bournemouth Park Road – daytime work between October 26 and 28 from number 137 to number 162

Pavements in Esplanade Gardens to Chalkwell Avenue, Tudor Gardens and Thorpedene Gardens will also be resurfaced during the next month.
