POLICE have named a man who died from his injuries following an incident in Westcliff.
James Avis, 35, died after he was allegedly assaulted in Hainault Avenue at around 10.35pm on Saturday, September 25.
Radu Ciobanu, 24, of Kings Chase, Witham was arrested shortly after the incident and has subsequently been charged with manslaughter.
He is next due to appear at Basildon Crown Court on 26 October.
Det Chief Insp Louise Metcalfe, who’s leading the investigation, said: “We are continuing to appeal for anyone with information about the incident to contact us.
“If you were in Hainault Avenue on the evening of 25 September and saw or heard anything, or have any CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage, I need you to contact my team.
“Even if you think the information you have is insignificant, it could prove really important to the investigation.”
