A DARING woman is aiming to raise over £2,000 for a charity which provides bereavement support for women who suffer early pregnancy loss.

Southend resident Amanda Green is fundraising for CRADLE Charity which supports bereaved mothers at Southend hospital.

Mrs Green, 33, aims to raise more than £2,000 through her fundraising ahead of her daring jump this November at Maidstone’s airfield, Headcorn.

Amanda said: “I have decided to take on this skydive for CRADLE because they provide vital bereavement support services in Southend for people going through early pregnancy loss.

“I really want to raise money to help more people get access to counselling. The charity provides fast-track, specialist 1-2-1 counselling to anyone affected by early pregnancy loss.”

“Pregnancy loss is devastatingly common. But a lack of awareness means there's inadequate support for grieving parents. And sadly, whether we know it or not, a number of our friends, family members, and colleagues will have experienced the painful loss of a pregnancy.

"I love their yellow CRADLE Comfort Bags, which are available to people receiving care, during or following pregnancy loss. Each bag is filled with essential toiletries and a ‘Dear Friend' letter, which signposts bereaved parents to support and services."

She added: “I want this skydive to raise as much money as possible so this great charity can continue to provide their crucial support services to everyone in need!”

Amanda, who has never done a tandem skydive before, will have to muster all her courage to jump from over 10,000ft at approximately 120mph.

There will be 30-40 seconds of freefall before the canopy is deployed at 5,000ft.

CRADLE charity operations director Dawn Brown said: "The support we receive from the local community is testament to the fabulous work our Ambassadors and NHS Healthcare Professionals at Southend Hospital carry out on a daily basis.

“We are extremely grateful for the bravery that Amanda shows to be able to carry out this skydive, raising funds that will go towards continuing our counselling provision, for bereaved families who experience early pregnancy loss at Southend Hospital."
