A THUG who attacked a pregnant woman has been jailed.
Alfie Smith, 27, was also served with a restraining order for the assault which means he is not allowed any contact with the victim for two years.
Smith had carried out the attack in Basildon back on August 14.
He denied hurting the woman - who was 26-weeks pregnant at the time - but was convicted of assault during a hearing at Southend Magistrates Court.
Smith, of Ayletts, Basildon, was ordered to spend 14 weeks behind bars, pay a £128 surcharge and £60 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
