WORK on hundreds of new social homes in south Essex has been completed.

Bellway Homes has finished constructing 217 houses and flats at the Hall Road development in Rochford.

They form part of a larger 600-home development off Hall Road which was controversially approved despite objections from residents.

A total of 163 of the 217 new homes will be for affordable rent which will be owned and managed by housing association CHP.

Rochford Council will nominate residents to live in the rented properties.

The other 54 homes are for shared ownership and range from one-bedroom flats to four-bedroom houses.

CHP has worked in partnership with Bellway Homes across all three phases on the development, which have all now been completed.

The properties are all built to Life Time Homes Standards, which will enable properties to be easily adapted in the future.

This will allow residents to stay in their own homes for much longer and keep living independently if they become less mobile.

Carl Hockey, CHP’s Growth and Partnerships Director said “We are very proud to have delivered such a large number of much-needed affordable homes at the Hall Road development.

“This contributes to our work to carry on tackling the housing crisis by providing new homes for affordable rent and shared ownership.

“We were delighted to work with Bellway homes across all three phases of this development.”

Work on the scheme originally started in 2014, with CHP joining on the first phase in December 2015, going on to partner on all three phases of the development.
