A man was arrested after police found drugs stashed in his car.

Officers from the Operational Support Group had tried to get the white BMW to stop in Southend but the driver initially ignored them.

When he did eventually stop for officers, he was found to have committed multiple driving offences and drugs were discovered in the vehicle.

He also reportedly failed a drugs test, despite the fact he had his partner and their seven-month-old baby in his car.

He was arrested but has since been bailed, while the BMW has been seized.

Officers said on Facebook: “On Sunday night a BMW briefly failed to stop for Officers from our Operational Support Group in Southend.

“The driver failed a drug wipe and drugs were found in the car.

“He had no insurance or driving licence and unbelievably he had his partner and seven-month-old old baby in the car.

“A 37 year old male from Leigh was arrested and later bailed. The vehicle was seized.”
