A CYCLIST suffered serious injuries after a crash with a motorbike last night.

The cyclist was rushed to hospital with serious injuries, following the crash on Somnes Avenue, Canvey, at around 7.05pm.

The road was closed for several hours following the crash.

The motorbike rider was also taken to hospital, where his injuries were treated.

A police probe has been launched into the crash.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We are investigating following a crash on Canvey where a cyclist sustained serious injuries.

"A motorbike and a cyclist were in collision in Somnes Avenue at around 7.05pm on Monday 11 October.

"The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious injuries while the rider of the motorbike, a man in his 40s, was also injured and treated in hospital.

"We are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or has any CCTV, dash cam or doorbell footage to come forward.
