A MAN has been released by the police after a forensic post-mortem concluded a woman found dead at a residential property was not assaulted.

A woman in her 40s was found dead at a residential address in Downham Road, Ramsden Heath, shortly after midnight yesterday (Monday, October 11).

Essex Police has today announced it has released a 60-year-old man without charge who had been arrested on suspicion of murder yesterday.

The force says a forensic post-mortem has taken place today, and while further tests are needed to identify the cause of death, detectives have been able to establish it was not cause by an assault.

At this stage of the investigation, police are not treating the woman’s death as suspicious.
