A BID to finalise a move to build houses, flats and offices on a former industrial site is set to be reviewed by councillors.

The former Hunwick site, on Kings Road in Halstead, is being lined up for development by AR Clarke, which is seeking to finalise its their bid to build nine houses, 12 flats and ten offices.

It comes after developers were granted planning permission in April.

The initial plans sparked a backlash from residents on Kings Road, with fears over parking and a lack of infrastructure on the street.

Braintree Council received nearly 20 objections.

Halstead councillor Garry Warren also opposed the bid and said residents in Kings Road had been “let down” by developers and planners when the proposals were approved by Braintree Council.

He said: “Their concerns have been completely ignored.”

Now AR Clarke has submitted another planning application to get permission for issues not covered in the original bid.

These include matters involving the site’s appearance, landscaping and layout.

If approved, the developers will be able to push ahead with developing the eyesore site.

Halstead Town Council is now set to review the latest application.

Braintree Council will have the final say on the application.
