MORE than 1,450 pink, blue and white hearts lit up Thorpe Bay Seafront for Baby Loss Awareness Week.

Ellie Day put out a request on social media asking for knitted hearts, and she had an overwhelming response from people wanting to help. Baby Loss Awareness Week 2021 has run this week, until Friday.

Ellie and the rest of the supporters created a mesmerising display of knitted hearts along Thorpe Bay seafront. Ellie and Colin lost their son Charlie two and a half years ago after he was stillborn at full term. They believe the week is an important time for parents who have experienced baby loss.

Ellie said: “It is important for parents to be able to talk freely about baby loss, awareness weeks help with that.” There was a sign on display alongside the knitted hearts which wasEcho: Ellie and Colin DayEllie and Colin Day It had details of the awareness week, names of babies who have passed away and a QR code to a JustGiving page.
