A dozen neighbourhoods in south Essex have recorded 50 or more coronavirus cases in the past week.

The latest data shows all boroughs and districts are now recording infection rates above 400 cases per 100,000 people apart from Southend.

The increase in infections seen across south Essex has also been seen across the country and has led to some calls for the reintroduction of coronavirus measures such as face masks.

The Government has ruled out any changes to the rules at the moment, but says it is keeping a close eye on the data.

With infection rates climbing and thousands of new cases being recorded in south Essex each week, some neighbourhoods have seen a surge in infections.
