FIREFIGHTERS battled to free a man after a car collision at a roundabout in the early hours of this morning.

Three fire crews rescued the man at the scene following a road traffic collision in London Road, Benfleet, shortly before 12.45am.

The crews from Rayleigh Weir, Southend and Shoeburyness used specialist cutting equipment to free the casualty.

A spokesman for the fire brigade said: “Crews were called… after a car was in collision at a roundabout.

“Firefighters used specialist cutting equipment to free a man who was trapped. He was left in the care of paramedics at 1.45am.”
