A Tory MP is urging his colleagues to vote for Sir David Amess' dog to win a Westminster pet contest.
Conservative Andrew Rosindell MP for Romford told his colleagues to consider voting for Sir David Amess’ dog, Vivienne, at the Westminster Dog of the Year competition, which promotes responsible dog ownership.
Before his death, Sir David had entered his French Bulldog into the contest.
Mr Rosindell told MPs: “A man who should be here today, but who tragically is not. A man who I believe epitomised goodness in every interaction he had, whether with something on two legs, or four. My dear friend, our late colleague, the Honourable Member for Southend West, whose passing we mourn so much.

“But I have to tell the House, that this Thursday is the Westminster Dog of the Year contest. I have been asked, I’ve been given the honour to enter Vivienne, the French Bulldog of Sir David Amess in the contest on Thursday along with my honourable friend the member for Rayleigh and Wickford, Mark Francois.”
He added: “I know I shouldn’t lobby members, but you can vote online, the Kennel Club website, you can vote online to choose your Westminster Dog of the Year. I hope friends and colleagues from both sides of the House will consider casting their vote for Vivienne, the dog of Sir David Amess this Thursday.”
