A HOME owner appeared in court after failing to remove or modify an extension when ordered to by the council.

Grant Dennison, 38, Canterbury Avenue, Southend appeared at Southend Magistrates Court on October 20.

He was charged with breach an enforcement notice.

The court heard between July 30 last year and March 16, he failed to remove the two storey side extension and rear dormer, or either remove the rear single storey extension in its entirety or clad the exterior walls in facing brickwork to match existing house in accordance with permitted development conditions.

He also failed to remove all rubble, materials and equipment associated with complying with this notice.

He was fined £233, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, and costs of £408.40.
