A man who invited people round to watch boxing during lockdown had been fined more than £1,000.
Heath Richardson, 33, of Twain Terrance, Wickford, was charged with participating in a gathering of two or more people in tier 4.
The incident happened on February 13 when police officers attended the address.
The court heard Richardson told police he had people inside watching the boxing.
After being reported for breaching the lockdown rules, six people left the property.

At Chelmsford Magistrates' Court last month Richardson was fined £1,100.
He was ordered to pay a victim services charge of £110 and costs of £90.
