A MAN is set to stand trial after allegedly carrying a samurai sword and carrying out an attack.

Mason Weaver, 23, of The Lichfields, Basildon, appeared in East London Magistrates’ Court on October 25.

Weaver was charged with possessing an offensive weapon in private place.

It is alleged that on September 13 in Canning Town, East London, he possessed in private, a samurai sword.

Weaver denied the offence and the matter is set to go to trial at Stratford Magistrates’ Court on November 11.

He has been remanded on bail.

He was ordered not to contact directly or indirectly the alleged victim.

He must also live and sleep each night at his address in Basildon.

Weaver was also charged with common assault and it is alleged on the same day and address he assaulted the victim.

This matter is also going to trial on the same day at the same court, he was under the same bail conditions.

He was also in court for an application to vary conditions of imposed on September 15 at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London.

A WOMAN has been fined after stealing furniture worth £1,500.
Winifred McDonagh, 30, of Knights, Basildon appeared in Southend Magistrates Court on October 25. 
She was charged with theft - other - including theft by finding, on February 17 in she stole furniture to the value of £1,500 belonging to Beau Interiors .
She indicated plea of guilty on the same day. 
She was handed a community order and told to carry out unpaid work for 80 hours, to pay compensation of £1000, a surcharge to fund victim services of £95 and costs of £145 to the Crown Prosecution Service and an application was made for benefit deductions of £1,240.00.

A BASILDON man will stand trial accused of stealing TV's from a supermarket and attacking a man.
Steven ONeill, 38, of Clay Hill Road, Basildon, was in Southend Magistrates Court on October 25 charged with a number of offences.
Firstly he was charged with assault a person thereby occasioning them actual bodily harm after allegedly attacking a man on October 22. This offence was withdrawn in favour of another offence.
He was charged with theft from shop, after allegedly stealing three 40 inch tv's and food items, to the value of £966.10, belonging to Tesco Extra in Pitsea on the same day. 
The matter has been sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on November 22. He is on bail subject to the following conditions: not to contact directly or indirectly the victim, not to enter Tesco Extra Store Pitsea. 
He was also charged with assault by beating, after allegedly attacking a man on the same day and matter was also sent to trial at the same court on the same day and the defendant is under the same bail conditions.

A MOTORIST has been fined in court after speeding.
Fred Ninel, 53, of Long Riding, Basildon, appeared in Stratford Magistrates' Court on October 25 charged with exceeding a 20 mph speed limit in contravention of an automatic camera device.
On October 27 in Westminster he drove a Volvo B7ECH, on the A3212 where there was a speed limit of 20mph and the speed recorded was 25 mph. 
The court heard the defendant would lose his job, livelihood and would suffer a detrimental impact due to the current circumstances of Covid if he was disqualified from driving.
He was fined £200, ordered to pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £34, costs of £100 and his driving record was endorsed with 3 points.
