Fines have been dished out to dozens of people across south Essex for littering.
Under UK law you can be given a penalty for littering items including food waste, cigarette butts or chewing gum.
Spitting and not clearing it up is also classed as littering.
We’ve taken a look back at people from across south Essex who have been in court in the last two months for littering.
Nadisha Ginihadduraga, 21, of Landermere, Basildon, admitted dropping a cigarette at Walthmstow Overground Station in January 2018. The case was only heard at Thames Magistrates’ Court on October 11. She was fined £70 and ordered to pay a £30 victim services fund.
Lee Ward, 49, of Glenmere, Basildon, was fined £40 for dropping a cigarette butt in the car park of McDonalds in Festival Way, on November 26 last year. He was also ordered to pay a victim services fund charge of £34 and costs of £100. The case was heard at Southend Magistrates’ Court.
Nicu Mihalache, 19, of Dacre Crescent, South Ockendon, was fined £220 for spitting in the car park of Morrisons in Grays on February 2. He was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Erlis Berhani, 36, of Princes Street, Southend, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette butt in Clapham High Street on February 9. He was also ordered to pay a £34 victim services fund and £185 costs. The case was heard at Croydon Magistrates’ Court.
Kelly Stowers, 41, of Bexhill Drive, Grays, was fined £220 for spitting outside Aldi in Thurrock on February 23. She was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Andreea Hoka, 36, of Gilbert Road, Chafford Hundred, was fined £220 for dropping litter outside Morrisons in Grays on February 1. She was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Victoria Hayers, 36, of Newton Road, Tilbury, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette butt in the car park of Aldi in Grays on February 1. He was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Zoe Darby, 29, of Dock Road, Tilbury, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette butt outside Morrisons ion Grays on January 28. She was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Sarah Cole, 33, of Calcutta Road, Tilbury, was fined £220 after dropping a cigarette butt outside Aldi in London Road, Grays, on February 1. She was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
David Bartlett, 42, of Hogg Lane, Grays, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette outside Halal Meat in Orsett Road, Grays, on February 11. He was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.

Nichola Stevens, 39, of Coronation Avenue, East Tilbury, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette outside Aldi car park in Grays on February 23. She was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Daniel Waddilove, 50, of London Road, Grays, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette outside Morrisons car park in Grays on February 24. He was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
Clement Oancea, 34, of Chadfields, Tilbury, was fined £220 for dropping a cigarette in London Road, Grays, on February 12. He was also ordered to pay a victim services fund of £34 and costs of £150. The case was heard at East Berkshire Magistrates’ Court.
