A NEW Poundland store will open in south Essex, it has been revealed.

The new shop, on Eastwood Road in Rayleigh, will open on November 13, creating 26 new jobs for the town.

The building was formerly occupied by Poundstretcher.

This comes after a new Poundland store opened in Basildon last month.

Poundland’s retail and transformation director, Austin Cooke, said: “Essex is a very important county for us and we’re proud to be increasing our presence in the region.

“Our Rayleigh store offers a fantastic range of items so customers can get more of what they need in one trip and our investment in the design and layout will give them the best possible customer experience.”

A spokesman from Poundland, said: "The new store, at 12-24 Eastwood Road, will employ 26 colleagues, and, at more than 7,500 square feet, will offer shoppers a wide range of items at the amazing value only Poundland can deliver.

"It was formerly occupied by Poundstretcher.

"Customers in Rayleigh will enjoy the benefits of the remarkable rollout of PEP&CO which has become one of the top 20 clothing retailers in the UK, just six years after the clothing brand was born.

"Rayleigh will offer a wide range of PEP&CO clothing for the whole family, including womenswear, from jeggings to dresses, menswear, from polo tops to jeans, and kids’ clothing from PJs to school wear.

"It will also have the very latest PEP&CO Home range, including throws, cushions, photo frames and decorative pieces from its autumn-winter 2021 collections.

"And it joins the growing number of Poundland stores – now standing at more than 200 – to offer chilled and frozen food as part of project Diamond Ice.

"The chiller and freezer cabinets will stock a wide range of meals and snacks including ready-meals, pizzas, pies, frozen desserts and ice-cream.

"While the store will still offer the everyday essentials, groceries, drinks and snacks shoppers love, they will also be able to see revamped health and beauty, entertainment, stationery and craft ranges.

The new Rayleigh store joins nearby Poundland stores in Essex, including Wickford, Canvey Island, Pitsea, Southend and Basildon."
