A person has been airlifted to hospital following a serious crash in Wickford Town Centre this morning.
Police were forced to close High Street from 9.30am due to the collision.
The East of England Ambulance Service has now confirmed an air ambulance was called to the scene and was used to transport someone involved in the incident.
A spokesman said: “We were called at 9.31am with reports of a collision in High Street, Wickford.
“We sent an ambulance, ambulance officer and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.
“One person was taken to Royal London Hospital by air ambulance for further care.”
It is understood the closure of High Street remained in place as of 12pm.
Essex Police has confirmed a man has been arrested following the crash and the road is likely to remain closed throughout this afternoon.
