Part of the A127 was closed for a short period this morning due to a 'police incident'.
There are long delays on the Southend-bound carriageway between Rayleigh Road and Rayleigh Weir as a result.
Police are said to have closed a small part of the carriageway due to an incident.
AA's traffic map says there are delays of at least 10 minutes.
Traffic is also said to be slow northbound on Progress Road from A127 to A1015 and on A127 London-bound towards Kent Elms Corner.
Essex Police has been contacted for comment.
