C2c has provided an update on how its services over Christmas and New Year will be impacted by engineering works.

Network Rail is carrying out a number of improvements to lines in and around London, and has urged all rail passengers in south Essex to check before they travel this Christmas.

There will be no trains running on either Christmas Day or Boxing Day.

But services running up to and beyond New Year will face alterations due to the engineering works.

No c2c trains will be able to access London Fenchurch Street between December 27 and January 3 due to the work taking place.

Services will therefore terminate at Barking or run into Liverpool Street instead.

A c2c spokesman said: “We are sorry if these changes have an impact on a journey you wish to make.

“This engineering work is essential to maintain the safety and reliability of c2c services.

“It also helps to prevent the need for speed restrictions on the track, that cause delays.

“We do understand how important your journeys are during the festive period, but overall there are far fewer people travelling than at other times of year.”

C2c says the normal timetable will resume on January 4.

This is how services will be impacted between Christmas and New Year.
