A MOTORIST who drove on the outside lane of a motorway while towing a trailer has been fined £100.

Neon Philips, was caught in the fourth lane off the M62 west near junction 27 in Bradford back on June 7.

This was a breach of the Motorways Traffic (England and Wales) Regulations 1982 because all three of the inside lanes of the carriageway were open.

The relevant section states: “No vehicle to which this regulation applies shall be driven, or moved, or stop or remain at rest on the right hand or off side lane of a length of carriageway which has three or more traffic lanes at any place where all the lanes are open for use by traffic proceeding in the same direction.”
