POLICE have arrested a man in connection with a serious assault which has left a man in a life-threatening condition.
A man in his 50s was assaulted in Great Wakering High Street shortly after 10pm yesterday (November 27).
He was taken to hospital with head and spinal injuries and is in a life-threatening condition.
A 43-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and remains in custody for questioning.
He was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.
Detectives have been progressing their enquiries throughout the day and thank witnesses who have helped with their investigation so far.
An Essex Police spokesman said: "Anyone who was in the area at the time and has any information but has yet to speak to police, is asked to contact us quoting reference 42/276183/21."
