A MAN accused of killing another man in an alleged attack has had his charge upgraded.
The incident saw Philip Mesh seriously injured in Broadway, Leigh, on Halloween.
Philip, who was 43, was rushed to hospital but died two days later.
Daniel Ballard, 31 and of Lincoln Close, Southend, was arrested following the incident and initially charged with GBH with intent.
But this has now been upgraded after Philip’s death saw police launch a homicide investigation.

Ballard appeared at Basildon Crown Court today (Friday, December 3) where his indictment was amended from GBH with intent, to one count of murder and one count of manslaughter.
He pleaded not guilty to both counts and is due to stand trial on July 20 next year.
