A man has appeared in court in connection with eight sex offences against children.

David Dennerley, 42, of Crest Avenue, Basildon, was charged with engaging in sexual communication with a child. On March 9 for the purpose of obtaining sexual gratification, intentionally he communicated with a girl, a person under the age of 16 who him did not reasonably believe to be 16 or over, the communication being sexual, namely sending her messages that were sexual in nature.

The matter has been sent to Basildon Crown Court for sentence on December 23 and he's on bail subject to the following conditions: present to police when requested, to provide details with the telephone number and IMEI number of any mobile phone in his possession, and allow Police to examine this when requested, not to delete or arrange for the deletion of any web-browsing, cookies, internet history, or chat history of any mobile device within his possession, not to be in the company of any person under the age of 16 years of age without a responsible person over the age of 18 present, live and sleep each night at 43 Crest Avenue, Basildon.

He was charged with causing a child aged 13 to 15 to watch at an image of sexual activity - offender 18 or over. On the same day he intentionally caused a child, to watch an image of a person engaged in sexual activity, namely a still image of you holding your penis and at the time the child was under 16, namely 14, and he did not reasonably believe that she was 16 or over.

This has been sent for sentence at the same court on the same date and he's on bail under the same conditions.

He was also charged with making an indecent photograph of a child, on or before September 7 he made an indecent photograph of a child.

He was also in court charged with attempting to cause or incite a girl 13 to 15 to engage in sexual activity. Between August 9 2020 and 17 he attempted to intentionally cause a girl to engage in sexual activity, and at the time the girl was under the age of 16 years, namely 13 years, and he did not reasonably believe that she was 16 or over.

This charge has been sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on the same date and he's on bail under the same conditions.

He's also standing trial in connection with a charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child It's alleged between April 1 2019 and August 31 2020, on no fewer than 4 occasions other than in Counts 1 and 5, he attempted to communicate with persons under the age of 16 who you did not reasonably believe to be 16 or over, the communication being sexual, namely sending messages that were sexual in nature.

This charge has been sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on the same date and he's on bail under the same conditions.

Another charge he's on trial for is attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.

It's alleged that between 1 April 2019 and 31 August 2020, on no fewer than 17 occasions other than in Counts 1 and 4, attempted to communicate with persons under the age of 16 who you did not reasonably believe to be 16 or over, the communication being sexual, namely sending messages that were sexual in nature.

This charge has been sent for trial to Basildon Crown Court on the same date and he's on bail under the same conditions.

He's due to be sentenced for making an indecent photograph of a child.

On or before 7 September 2020, he made an indecent photograph of a child.
