Police have revealed Basildon has become a hotspot for the theft of a specific model of car.
Officers say they are “actively targeting” the theft of Ford Kugas in the town.
It comes after two people were arrested in connection with a string of thefts of the model of car in south Essex.
Referring to the spate of thefts, officers took to the Essex Police Basildon Facebook page where they said: “Basildon Police are actively targeting the theft of Ford Kugas in our area.
“Yesterday two juvenile males were caught and taken into Basildon Police custody for driving a cloned vehicle that is active in the theft of motor vehicles.
“The vehicle failed to stop for police, was speeding and broke traffic contraventions.
“Enquires are still ongoing.”
Anyone with information about the thefts should contact Essex Police on 101.
