POLICE made multiple arrests in south Essex last night in connection with drink or drug-driving.
One of the drivers arrested was involved in a crash in Thurrock which saw their car come off the road and plough through trees and a hedgerow.
The Essex Roads Policing Unit posted a photo of the crash on Twitter where they revealed it was their fourth arrest of the night.
It wrote: “We attended an RTC in Thurrock where the driver didn't take the advice to get a taxi home after a new year party.
“Driver arrested now awaiting blood tests at hospital.”

Police had urged people celebrating New Year to be sensible and to stay away from drinks and drugs if they were driving.
Another arrest for drug-driving was made by officers after they had stopped a vehicle for excess speeding.
The driver was found to have no insurance and spent the evening in custody.
