OVERNIGHT closures of the A13 will be in place this week as part of the ongoing widening scheme.

The road will be closed tonight and tomorrow night from 9pm and 5am between the Stanford-le-Hope junction and the A128 Orsett Cock junction.

The closure is in place on the westbound carriageway only.

A diversion is in place via the A1013 Stanford Road for local traffic, with all other traffic asked to divert via the A127.

Another closure is planned on Thursday night between the same junctions, but will include the eastbound carriageway as well as westbound.

The same diversions will apply.

Several new bridges have now been installed over the A13 as part of the project, which will see the road widened to three lanes.

New drainage, resurfacing, planting and fencing are also being added.

Further closures are planned throughout the rest of January, with more details available on the Thurrock Council website.

There are also overnight planned closures of the A13 near Pitsea from next week.

The road will be shut in both directions for 27 nights to allow investigation work to take place.
