A BAR in Southend is set for a temporary makeover and will be turned into a cockapoo paradise.

Revolution, in Queens Road, will become the first place in Essex to be transformed into a cockapoo café.

The one-day event, which is being jointly run by Pug Café and Pop+Bark, will allow cockapoos and their owners to meet up and socialise with like-minded fanatics of the curly friends.

Echo:

Owners will be able to let their cockapoos loose in a waterproof and safe environment, while they make the most of the snacks and hot and cold drinks on offer.

There will also be treats available for the pooches, with free ‘Puppicinos’ available.

Bosses say the lockdown has led to a surge in new dog owners, with cockapoos among the most popular as they are hypoallergenic.

Organiser Anushka Fernando said: “We are so excited to be bringing our latest event Cockapoo Café to Southend.

Echo:

“We are known for our small breed events including pugs and dachshunds, but, you don’t get many events for Cockapoos so we decided to fluff things up with an event dedicated to our adorable canine friends.

“Our events are so joyful – cockapoos and their owners are a happy go lucky bunch that are super friendly.

“We cannot wait to meet all the cockapoos of Essex.

“A lot of recent dogs we’ve seen at events are ‘lockdown’ dogs so it’s a chance to socialise them in a safe space where they can grow in confidence, off lead and relax.

Echo:

“It’s so important to their self-esteem and a well socialised dog is a happy dog.”

The café will be coming to Revolution on February 6 and running two ticketed events on the day.

Only cockapoos can be brought to the event, but you do not have to own one yourself to attend.
