POLICE are searching for two conmen who posed as water board officials to gain access to a home.

The incident happened in Irvington Close, Leigh, and saw the two suspects ask to check the water supply at a property. 

The resident asked the men to provide ID when they were inside but they left without showing any. 

No items were reported stolen during the incident, which happened around 8.35pm on Thursday (January 13).

Detectives are now appealing for anyone who saw the two suspects in the area to contact them.

A police spokesman said: "The first man was described as white, 6ft tall and of large build.

"He was covering his face with a grey scarf and wearing a black coat and jogging bottoms.

"He was accompanied by a second man described as Asian, 5ft 9ins tall of large build.

"He was wearing a blue/grey fleece jacket, track suit bottoms and trainers. He too covered his face with a grey scarf.

"We would ask anyone driving in the area at the time to check their dash cam to see if they have captured any footage that may help our enquiries."
