A man has been jailed for seven years after killing a father-of-two with one punch outside a nightclub.
Dennie Griffiths, 28, of Hermitage Drive, Laindon, was sentenced after being found guilty of manslaughter by a jury at Basildon Crown Court.
Griffiths was charged after the death of Matthew Bion who died of a fatal brain injury on August 27, 2019, following the incident outside Reids bar, in Billericay on August 18.
Griffith's girlfriend Jade Chambers, also of Hermitage Drive, Laindon, has been found guilty of assisted Griffiths by telling him to hide over text messages in the aftermath of the incident and sentenced to a year in prison suspended for one year.
Mr Bion’s mother spoke in court sobbing and told of how the dad’s children ask to see him again and do not understand what’s happened.
She also said she wished nothing like this happens to the two defendants.
