SEVERAL people have appeared in court this month after being charged with dodging rail fares.

The passengers were all prosecuted for failing to pay for a ticket on c2c or Greater Anglia trains.

This is a breach of Railway Byelaws made under Section 219 of the Transport Act 2000.

The following people have all been found guilty of dodging rail fares in south Essex in court this month:


Paul Swaby, 31, was fined £300 and ordered to pay further costs of £164.20 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Swaby, of Bedford Place, Canvey, was caught traveling between Rayleigh and Prittlewell stations without a ticket on July 22 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £5.20.


Jason Flanagan, 36, was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £166.60 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Flanagan, of Beeston Courts, Basildon, was caught travelling between Shenfield and Southend Victoria stations without a ticket on May 16 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £7.20.


Christopher French, 37, was fined £175 and ordered to pay costs of £145.30 by City of London Magistrates Court.

French, of Plaiters Way, Braintree, travelled between Chelmsford and Southend Victoria stations without a ticket on June 18 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £11.30.


Tom Keys, 29, was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £164.20 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Keys, of York Road, Southend, had travelled between Prittlewell and Rayleigh stations without a ticket on July 21 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £5.20.


Christian Boundry, 43, was fined £300 and ordered to pay costs of £165 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Boundry, of Sceptre Road, London, was caught travelling between Rayleigh and Southend Victoria stations without a ticket on July 29 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £6.


Louis O’Brien, 29, was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £166.70 by City of London Magistrates Court.

O’Brien, of Sandringham Road, Laindon, was caught travelling between Hatfield Peverel and Chelmsford stations without a ticket on July 14 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £7.70.


Jason Skeet was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £163 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Skeet, of Rochford Garden Way, Rochford, was caught travelling between Rayleigh and Rochford stations without a ticket on May 11 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £4.


Laurie Hawkes, 28, was fined £220 and ordered to pay costs of £174.30 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Hawkes, of Brock Hill, Wickford, was caught travelling between London Stratford and Rayleigh stations without a ticket on August 9 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £15.30.


Krystian Kuczynski, 40, was fined £175 and ordered to pay costs of £149.30 by City of London Magistrates Court.

Kuczynski, of Stephenson Road, London, was caught travelling between London Stratford and Rayleigh stations without a ticket on July 21 last year.

The cost of the ticket was £15.30.
