Customers have been loving the South American inspired restaurant at The White Horse in Ramsden Heath.

With expertly flavoured steaks, supplied by the renowned Aubrey Allen butchers, and dishes such as Wagyu burgers and Cajun monkfish, what’s not to like?

Urban Fresh opened its doors in October last year and it has been a hit with visitors who love its fantastic service, slick new look and the taste explosion of delicious food which is served there.

Luke Martin, a manager at Urban Fresh, joined the team to coincide with the launch.

He said: “We have had fantastic feedback from people on TripAdvisor and Facebook. They are loving the quality of the meat and the unique flavours. I have had people say it feels like going to a restaurant in London, but its local.”

The restaurant, which is getting a reputation for its amazing steaks, also use the meat supplied by Aubrey Allen for their rump beef Sunday roasts as well.
Luke has put his stamp on the South American cocktail menu, which has gone down a storm with guests at the restaurant.

“I wrote the cocktail menu and my particular favourite is the Pisco Sour, a twist on an Amaretto sour. It uses Pisco, an un-aged brandy which is a favourite in Peru, it tastes like a deliciously smooth cloudy lemonade,” said Luke.

What has been Luke’s best moment since joining the team? Luke said: “My favourite moment has to be when we started to receive the positive feedback from the public. After a lot of hard work to launch the restaurant, it makes it all worth it to know people are loving what we are doing.”

Owner Steve Haslam, who also owns the Bread and Cheese Pub in Benfleet, has travelled with his family to many regions of Spain over the years and savoured many of its culinary delights.

They enjoyed the steakhouses and were intrigued by the flavours and this lead on to exploring the South American culinary scene and the flavour combinations.

For Valentine’s Day the venue is set to have a special night with a fabulous three course menu and live entertainment from Katy for Kings.
