MORE than half of the homes at a plush £125million Southend seafront development have sold ahead of it being completed, with new owners primed and ready to move in.

The striking Clifftown Shore apartments, in Western Esplanade, Southend, are set to welcome homeowners by the end of March.

New images have been revealed highlighting spacious rooms and luxurious balconies, some with expansive seafront views.

Beyond the Box is behind the landmark development featuring 51 apartments and penthouses, ranging from £295,000 for one-bedroom flats and now about 60 per cent of the homes have been sold already.

Matt North, head of marketing at Homes of Leigh, said the response had been nothing but positive and demand is high.

The estate agent, who also works in the sales team, said: “Sales are going really well, with 60 per cent sold off plan which is really good and is normal for a development like this.

Echo:

“People were buying the homes when it was still in early stages and without walls constructed. A lot of this is the site’s position, the views are stunning even for the homes at the back.

“The first floor is quite high due to the restaurant and cocktail bar and gives unbroken beautiful views of the estuary.

“The homes around the back are very affordable and while it’s a plush and expensive development, it’s also for everyone and first-time buyers.”

The design of the development deliberately reflects the Art Deco heritage of Southend’s seafront and the flowing curves of the façade are said to evoke the “majestic waves” of the estuary.

Built on the site of the old Esplanade pub and the Marriott’s fish restaurant next door, the complex also features a gym, secure parking and concierge service.

As well as living space, the building also includes a restaurant and decadent cocktail bar, run by the Colchester-based Elysium Group, all under a state-ofthe-art “green living roof ”.

Mr North added: “People buying homes at the back are looking for less hustle and bustle and are also first time buyers too.

“We are looking at competition and getting the first people to move in for about end of March, maybe early April.

Echo:

“It’s been delayed due to things out of the control of the firm such as the fuel crisis, supply chain issues an the Covid pandemic.

“People are very keen to get into the homes as soon as possible, especially with the good weather coming as well.

“It’s been received very well in the community and lots of people are interested in the plans and new homes too.”

He said residents’ feedback is that they are pleased to see the improved look of this part of the town and seafront.

Bosses also say when the sales centre opened, more than 90 people came through the door in a single day to sneak a peak of the homes on offer.

The one-bedroom homes are priced at £295,000 to £435,000, with a three-bedroom penthouse on the market for £575,000.
