The fun day, where children get to dress up as their favourite book character, is fast approaching.
Aside from the excitement, it can also be a minefield when it comes to choosing an outfit for the day.
To avoid a last-minute scramble in the wardrobe looking for a plausible Alice in Wonderland outfit, or a convincing Harry Potter, here are some of the wonderful outfits from last year.
In 2021, World Book Day saw the majority of pupils celebrating the popular event at home rather than at school, due to the coronavirus pandemic.
That did not stop the youngsters celebrating in style.
The vast majority of pupils got involved while home-schooling and grabbed snaps from the comfort of their own households.
World Book Day is a charity on a mission to help change children’s lives by making reading together and reading for pleasure a habit for life.
According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator for success in life, more than family circumstances, educational background, or income.
Sharing stories together for just ten minutes a day will encourage a love of reading.
You can read together anywhere and everywhere, from breakfast to bedtime! In the park, on the train, on the sofa, on a plane, reading and sharing stories can happen anywhere at any time.
The charity offer every child and young person the opportunity to have a book of their own.
World Book Day is a celebration of reading, authors, illustrators and books. It’s designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.
This year the charity is working with Nielsen BookData to allow people to view a few pages of each of the £1 World Book Day books before they use their tokens.
This year's books include: Hey Duggee, The World Book Day Badge, Rocket Rules, Silly Book Of True or False, by Matt Lucas, Jemima The Pig by Michael Morpurgo, The Worst Class in the World in Danger by Joanna Nadin, are among the collection.
The next World Book Day will take place in the UK on Thursday 3rd March.
