A TRAINEE teacher has been warned he could face prison after he admitted possessing images depicting the sexual abuse of children.

Hector Moyes, 28, was found to have ten videos of the most serious Category A across two electronic devices.

Ipswich Crown Court heard indecent images of children were found on an Apple Mac and iPhone in June last year.

Appearing before a judge today, Moyes, of Fingringhoe Road, Langenhoe, Colchester, admitted three counts of making indecent images of children.

The charges relate to the ten Category A videos, as well as four images and one video at Category B and eight images and three videos at Category C.

Moyes’ barrister asked the judge for a short adjournment to allow the probation service to prepare a pre-sentence report.

He said Moyes was suffering from “a number” of mental health problems at the time of the offences.

The court heard the sentencing judge will be provided with a report prepared by a psychotherapist.

Matthew Bagnall, prosecuting, told the court the sentencing judge will be provided with a categorisation of the indecent images.

He said an “aggravating feature” is Moyes’ occupation at the time of his offending.

Mr Bagnall read the court a statement which revealed Moyes worked “in a position of trust” as a trainee music teacher at a secondary school.

He added: “There is also evidence of Google searches on both devices which give rise to the sorts of images which were ultimately found.”

Moyes, who spoke only to confirm his name and to admit the charges, was released on unconditional bail until April 19.

Addressing the defendant, Recorder Graham Huston said: “The Crown will ensure a sexual harm prevention order is supplied in good time for the hearing.

“You must return to this court on April 19 for sentence.

“I can’t tell you what the sentence will be, I will not be the sentencing judge.

“All sentencing options will be available to the judge who deals with the sentencing hearing, including immediate custody.

“You are free to go, you remain on unconditional bail.”
