Three stab victims suffered a range of injuries during an attack near a Southend bar.

Police were initially called to a fight in Clifftown Road, at about 4am yesterday.

Officers were called to reports one man had been injured but they arrived to find two men suffering with stab wounds.

One of the men had been stabbed in the hand and his injury has been described a minor by police and the other man had injuries to his abdomen and face.

Officers went on to find a third man who had been stabbed who has also suffered an injury to his abdomen.

All three men were rushed to hospital but police say none of their injuries are life-threatening.

Det Insp Mike Calvert, who is leading the investigation said: “Detectives are following a number of lines of enquiry and are piecing together a picture of what took place in Southend town centre in the early hours of this morning.

“We are keeping an open mind as to whether the incidents are related.

“Naturally, three men sustaining injuries in our town centre will cause concern among our community however at this time our enquiries suggest there is no wider threat to the public.”

A police spokesman added: “We need anyone who saw anything, has any CCTV or dash cam footage of any suspicious behaviour in the Clifftown Road area between 4am and 4.30am to contact us.”
