Fire crews rushed to a blaze after pizza boxes caught fire in a home.
Two crews were called to the incident in Fauners, Basildon at 9.24pm last night after the fire started in the kitchen of the home.
The firefighters were called after a smoke alarm alerted a parent to a fire in the family kitchen.
On entering the house, firefighters confirmed there was a fire in the kitchen, caused by pizza boxes which were left on the hob and had ignited.
Crews worked to extinguish the fire by 9:49pm, and cleared the flat of smoke.
Watch Manager, Mark Blakebrough, at Basildon Fire Station, said: “It’s really important to keep cooker surfaces clear of flammable objects.

“Fortunately, this property had working smoke alarms which alerted the family to the fire. We were able to extinguish the fire quickly and damage was contained to the kitchen.”
