DANCE music fans are set to descend on Basildon next month as a 5,000-person festival rolls into town.

Indulge, billed as “Essex’s best new festival”, will see revellers from across London and Essex amass in Gloucester Park on Sunday, May 1.

Festival organisers say they are selling 5,000 tickets and will be putting up three separate stages, with 20 artists, including Andrea Oliva, Ben Sterling, and Detlef, performing from 12pm to 9pm.

The event has been welcomed as an economic boon for the town, but concerns remain over a potential for anti-social behaviour and littering.

Echo:

“As long as it is properly policed, with enough security in place to stop any potential trouble, then I see no reason why it can’t be a positive for the town,” councillor Kerry Smith said.

“We don’t have many things for younger people to do around here, so I’m willing to give it the benefit of the doubt.”

Echo:

He added: “Key for these kinds of events to be a success is for the clean-up to be properly managed. We don’t want Gloucester Park left in a right old state so that nobody else can enjoy it.”

A 50-act drum and bass festival will be in town the day before, with One7Four Held in Gloucester Park on April 30.

The park has held large events in the past, previously hosting 20,000 attendees a day to the now-cancelled annual Bas Fest.

Steve Durham, Indulge festival director, said: “We are extremely excited to be launching Indulge Festival in such an amazing and scenic location that's easily accessible from both London & Southend. The new concept Festival will showcase some of the biggest names in the underground house scene.

Echo:

"One of Ibiza's most iconic brands in Amnesia takes control of the Indulge Main Arena, loaded with incredible production you wont find anywhere else!

"Whilst London brands Buena Vida and Casita host their own respective arenas, each with its own custom crafted stage and state of the art 3D mapping and visuals, highlighting their signature sounds and the vast ability of their residents DJ's! “

Tickets for the bank holiday weekend day event start at £30, with VIP packages costing up to £77.
