A MOTHER has been left “broken” after her car, which she relies on to transport her disabled son, was stolen from outside her Basildon home.

Tara Pacey’s silver Ford Fiesta was stolen from Berdens, Basildon, shortly before 7am on Friday.

The 28-year-old mother-of-two is reliant on the car because her son, aged four, has severely brittle bones.

She said: “I’m broken. I need my car for my disabled son and now it’s gone.
“My son has quite bad brittle bones, he could stand up funny and break his leg.

“We are so reliant on the car because you never know when we might need to get him to hospital in an emergency, and for everyday things like getting to work, taking him to school, or his hospital appointments.”

The crime has been reported to Essex Police, and detectives are investigating.

A black Ford Fiesta was abandoned, with lights still running, at the end of nearby Vange Hill Drive the same morning Ms Pacey’s car was stolen.

When police arrived to conduct interviews, officers revealed the black Fiesta had been reported stolen just a few days prior.

“I’ve heard of several other Ford Fiesta’s being stolen in Basildon over the last few weeks,” Mrs Pacey said.

“It’s strange that these specific cars are being targeted, and I guess it could very well be the same people doing this.”

Ms Pacey, who also has a young daughter, says two child seats were in the vehicle at the time the car was stolen.

“What kind of person steals a car when they see that it belongs to people with young kids,” she said.

“It makes you lose faith I humanity a bit, going through something like this.”

Ms Pacey added: “I just wonder if my car has been dumped somewhere in Basildon at the end of a road and people just haven’t realised.

“There are nicer, newer cars on my road, but they have gone for mine in broad daylight. It doesn’t make sense.”
